The second of three webinars will focus on applying principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery to successfully engage clients in the supportive employment process. Mariella and Sarah-Jane will review skills and tools for assessing readiness, as well as strength-based approaches to client goal-setting. Specific recovery tools and strategies for wellness in the workplace will be introduced. Finally, the speakers will discuss the value of engaging the client’s support network in facilitating work integration.

Mariella Bozzer is a Registered Occupational Therapist and the Coordinator of Gastown Vocational Services (GVS), a specialized service offered through Vancouver Coastal Health that assists individuals with mental health conditions to reach their employment and educational goals. In addition to leading the team at GVS, Mariella has been a Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of British Columbia for over 30 years.
Prior to her time at GVS, Mariella worked with individuals with mental health concerns as an Occupational Therapist and Case Manager in both the private and public sector. Mariella’s 35 years of experience working with specialized disability client groups in career development and case management have made her an expert in the vocational rehabilitation field, as well as in the principles of psycho-social rehabilitation.
Dr. Sarah-Jane Meachen is a Clinical Psychologist with a Specialization in Neuropsychology. Awarded her Ph.D. from Wayne State University in Michigan in 2011, Dr. Meachen has won multiple awards and grants in her career. Her research has been published in esteemed peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented internationally at conferences. She is currently registered as a psychologist in Alberta and is in the process of obtaining her licensure in B.C.
As a full-time Registered Psychologist at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton for the past three years, Dr. Meachen brought her expertise in neuropsychological assessment and intervention to individuals with acquired brain injury, dementia, and psychiatric conditions. Having recently returned to British Columbia, Dr. Meachen now brings her expertise in clinical neuropsychology and her background in rehabilitation to GVS.
