About the study

Through review of case studies and interviews, the study examined various approaches taken by employers to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This study further provided insight into promising practices in advancing disability employment and lessons learned from different partnership models and strategies.

 

What can be learned from this study?

• Establishing partnerships with community service organizations and agencies was critical to furthering the companies’ disability employment initiatives.

• Effective collaboration between service organizations and employers was important. With local and regional organizations’ support, employers were able to recruit and hire qualified people with disabilities. Collaboration also helped to foster leadership.

• Some local organizations and staffing agencies served as intermediaries between service providers and employers helping them connect.
